Iraq War Veteran & Air Force Chaplain Representative Doug Collins Receives Special Musicians On Call “Service To Heroes” Award

Musicians On Call recently presented Congressman Doug Collins (R-GA) with its second annual “Service to Heroes Award” that honors an individual for his or her work on behalf of the military and our Veterans.

A senior pastor at his hometown church in Georgia, Representative Collins has also ministered to our country’s military as an Air Force Reserve chaplain since 2002. He served a combat tour in 2008 while stationed at Balad Air Force Base in Iraq and has been an ardent champion of Veterans and religious freedom in the military.

The special “Service to Heroes” Award was presented to Representative Collins by Cary Sherman, Chairman & CEO, RIAA. The award presentation took place at an event in Washington, D.C. hosted by MOC and the Beer Institute and MC’ed by iHeartMedia’s local station Hot 99.5 DJ Toby Knapp, with support from sponsors ACT | The App Association, Aflac, Comcast/Universal, Jenner & Block, RIAA, and SoundExchange.

“Musicians On Call proudly serves our military and Veterans through 14 Bedside Performance Programs at VA Hospitals around the country,” said Pete Griffin, President of Musicians On Call. “Supporting Veterans is part of who we are as an organization, and we look forward to bringing the healing power of music to more Veterans as our programs continue to grow.”
