Musicians On Call Celebrates 10th Anniversary in Nashville With A Surprise Hospital Visit by Keith Urban At The Children’s Hospital at TriStar Centennial

MOC marks its tenth anniversary in Nashville, TN and to make the milestone more special, MOC treated patients at The Children’s Hospital at TriStar Centennial with a visit from four-time Grammy Award winner Keith Urban. Urban serenaded young patients at MOC’s Bedside Performance Program, where volunteer musicians across the country have delivered the healing power of music to over half a million patients, families and caregivers, with acoustic renditions of some of his biggest hits including “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” ”Wasted Time,” “You Look Good In My Shirt,” and “Somebody Like You.” Keith shared many special moments with patients, families and caregivers in attendance during his truly exceptional MOC visit.

“The power of music to not only connect people, but to bring comfort into someone’s life is something quite divine,” said Keith Urban. “Visiting with these kids and their families yesterday was truly inspiring, as was the chance to play for them and bring a little light to their day, even if for a few moments. I’m very grateful to Musicians On Call for the good work they do and honored to be a small part of that.”

“It was an absolute honor to have country music icon Keith Urban join us to help deliver the healing power of music,” said Pete Griffin, Musicians On Call President. “Musicians On Call is celebrating the 10th anniversary of our Nashville programs and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off this year-long celebration.”

MOC has had a lot of incredible moments and events in Nashville over the years with supporters including Reba McEntire, Martina McBride, Kelsea Ballerini, Lady Antebellum, Sam Hunt, Lee Brice, Darius Rucker, RaeLynn and more. MOC will kick off the celebration of the 10th anniversary with a campaign including high profile hospital visits, a community engagement campaign and a high profile celebration event in the Fall.

UPDATE FROM A PROGRAM ADVOCATE

One family shared their visit with us that truly shows what the last decade of serving patients has meant in Nashville:

My son was diagnosed with Leukemia June 2013. He has spent more days in the hospital than out. He has relapsed 2 times. He has had 2 transplants and DLI. We were in the hospital this time from complications from GVHD. He is so tired of being sick. He is feeling down. He is 20 years old and should be having the time of his life. I haven’t seen his sweet smile in months. You and Keith Urban brought that smile back if only for a moment. That alone has meant more to me than any words could express.
