NBC News’ Lester Holt spotlighted Musicians On Call’s mission delivering the healing power of music, particularly during the holiday season, on a recent episode of NBC Nightly News: Kids Edition. The feature showcased the number of talented MOC Volunteers and artist partners who have helped us bring joy through music into hospitals during the pandemic. Lukas Graham shares power

Eight-year-old Xavier is battling leukemia and turns to music for courage during his treatments. The song “Scars” by GRAMMY-nominated hitmaker Lukas Graham is one of his go-to anthems. “All of his songs bring joy to me,” said Xavier, “And they really have a good tone, and beat and pulse. I listen to them all the time, even in school.” Xavier’s mom reached out to Musicians On Call with his story and requested a surprise Virtual Program for Xavier with Lukas himself. When Xavier tuned in from his home in Las Vegas his mom told him he was performing for a singing competition. In recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we’ve partnered with our friends at Kendra Scott through their philanthropic initiative Kendra Cares for Concert 4 Kids, a special concert experience exclusively for patients at 40 children’s hospitals nationwide during the month of September.
