Music is the universal language. This week we recognized World Music Day, an annual celebration of all forms of music and their impact on people around the world. Musicians On Call’s Programa Virtual en Español has been connecting Spanish-speaking volunteers and patients virtually to share stories and music. MOC Board Member Michelle Klinger reunited with Latin music performers Elsten Torres and Eduardo Osorio, who were among the first volunteers to deliver live music to the bedsides of patients in Miami. Lukas Graham Sends Specia

It was 2020 when 8-year-old Xavier was undergoing treatment for leukemia and Musicians On Call gave him a visit he would never forget. Through a MOC program, Xavier met one of his favorite artists, Lukas Graham, and sang his favorite song, “Scars.” When surprised with the opportunity to sing a duet with Lukas, Xavier was overcome with emotion. Touched by this interaction, Lukas told him: “We all got scars, Xavier, and you know what? Musicians On Call Celebra

In honor of National Salute to Veteran Patients Week, Musicians On Call is adding a new program at the New Orleans VA Medical Center! This addition expands our reach to 13 VA facilities across the country that our volunteers regularly visit with our Bedside Performance Program. National Salute to Veteran Patients Week is an opportunity to pay tribute to the men and women who have dedicated their time to protecting our nation and now need our help at VA facilities across the United States. According to the Department of Veteran Affairs, over 98,000 Veterans of the U.S. armed services are treated in VA medical facilities, outpatient clinics, domiciliary sites, and community living centers. The Band Of Merrymakers S

The Band Of Merrymakers stayed true to their name as they decked the halls with merry music at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore this week. The group first performed in the lobby of the hospital, playing for the patients and families as they walked by. Then it was time to visit patients who couldn’t make it out to the lobby performance with some bedside caroling! The Band of Merrymakers is a rotating-cast holiday supergroup created to of raise awareness and donations for non-profit organizations and charities. They are also supporting Musicians On Call as a part of the Deck The Halls campaign, where they designed a holiday sweater to support MOC as they deck the halls of hospitals this holiday season.
