What is your occupation outside of MOC? ” I am a Quality Assurance Specialist at Tesla Energy and also the President of Route 91 Nation“
What is your story? What connects you with music and why do you volunteer with MOC? “On 10/01/17 I became a survivor of the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting in Las Vegas. Since I was injured and spent some time recovering physically, I learned that even though a country music festival was the reason I got hurt, music still helped me heal because music is what I love and what connects me to the people that mean so much to me. In April ’18 I met someone at another Country festival in town who told me about what Musicians On Call did for the survivors for Route 91, following the days of 1 October. She was actually working at Sunrise Hospital where MOC started in Las Vegas. She told me that they were looking for volunteers. I didn’t have to think twice. I applied the very next day and got accepted as a guide. This city came together in the worst hours, days and weeks we have ever seen. The nurses and doctors at Sunrise Hospital did such an awesome job to help all of us affected that night. Musicians On Call with the assistance of ACM stepped up and brought hope, music and smiles back to such a dark time. Since they continue the program, it is now my turn to give back. I am proud to be able to say I’m part of the Las Vegas branch. ”
Has your life changed because of your experience with MOC? “It has for sure. I never thought I would be volunteering like this one day. MOC changed my perspective. “
What is your favorite #MOCmoment? “I just started, so it’s hard to name a specific moment. To be able to be a part of this is special to me every single day of the week though.“
