Do you volunteer at a specific hospital? Sarah Cannon

How long have you been volunteering with Musicians On Call? 5 1/2 years

Are you a volunteer guide or musician? Guide

What is your occupation outside of MOC? Inside Sales

Do you have any hidden talents? I can ride my bike with no hands. Ha.

What is your story? What connects you with music and why do you volunteer with MOC? I am a fan of Country Music and follow several artists and people who work in the music industry on twitter. I kept seeing Musicans On Call come up. Well, I love helping people and music. So, it was a no brainer to try and partner/help through Musicans On Call. So in 2014, it was time to try and volunteer. I got approved and was asked to guide at Sarah Cannon. I really felt like it was divine intervention as I had lost an awesome Grandmother to cancer several years before my first night to help guide in August of 2014.

What makes MOC different from your other volunteer experiences? It’s been life changing with some indescribable moments. It really puts life into perspective and to see the power of one song is amazing. The patients letting us into their world for that little moment and to see hope, joy and sunshine with that one song. Also the family members it helps too. You just never know the affect that one song is going to have.

Has your life changed because of your experience with Musicians On Call? Absolutely and I am so grateful I get to volunteer for MOC.

What is your favorite #MOCmoment? This is a super hard one to pick. I have been so blessed to witness the joy, hope, and uplifting of one song with so many different moments. I am literally in tears thinking about the awesome moments I’ve witnessed. This one particular night, musician Lindsey Ellen and I had one room where the husband was a preacher. After Lindsey sang, we talked with the couple and then the husband prayed over his wife and us. That was a very powerful moment. Lindsey and I just looked at each other after we left the room and couldn’t put into words what just happened. God and the Holy Spirit that’s all I can say.
