Do you have any hidden talents? Ballroom dancing
What is your story? What connects you with music and why do you volunteer with MOC? I grew up in a musical family, learning to appreciate the ways people connect to and express their creativity through music. Years ago, when my grandmother suffered a stroke, I would play Nat King Cole to her and could visibly see how much it lifted her spirits. Once I read about MOC’s work, I knew I had to be a part of it.
What makes MOC different from your other volunteer experiences? With MOC, you witness the direct impact you have each time you volunteer. MOC offers people a dose of happiness and human connection.
Has your life changed because of your experience with MOC? Yes! I have met an amazing group of people who spend their free time giving back to the community.
What is your favorite #MOCmoment? The end of the night was approaching and the staff asked that we visit one particular room. Upon entering, we learned that all of the visitors were professional singers. The patient was serenaded with five part harmonies and it was one of the most moving moments I have witnessed in my two years with MOC.
