Musicians On Call Teams Up With Southwest Airlines To Bring Music To The Southwest Porch At Bryant Park
Musicians On Call teamed up with Southwest Airlines® to bring music to the Southwest Porch at Bryant Park through Musicians On Call’s Volunteer Spotlight Concert. With the help of Musicians On Call Volunteer Musicians Ashley King, Dan Rauchwerk and Alexis Babini, guests were treated to special performances of their favorite cover songs to sing for patients in hospitals and a few original tunes.
Volunteer Guides Suzanne Arrabito and Sandy Lyon also shared touching testimonials about their inspiring experience volunteering with the organization. Musicians On Call co-founder, Michael Solomon, was on hand to deliver a commemorative plaque to Tena Griffith, Southwest Airlines Community Relations, thanking Southwest Airlines for its support of Musicians On Call programs in 2017.
“This past year, Southwest Airlines has played an integral part in supporting the mission of Musicians On Call, especially through this special Volunteer Spotlight Concert,” said Pete Griffin, President of Musicians On Call. “At this event, we were able to share Bryant Park visitors the type of performances our Volunteer Musicians give on a weekly basis to patients. We believe wholeheartedly that music heals, and we are grateful Southwest Airlines shares our value of bringing joy to others.”

The visit was a part of Southwest Airlines’ yearlong celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Southwest Airlines Medical Transportation Grant Program (MTGP), where they provide complimentary, roundtrip tickets to nonprofit hospitals and medical transportation organizations. In addition to this concert event, Southwest Airlines and Musicians On Call organized concerts at Southwest Airlines terminals and brought recording artists, Brooke Eden, Judah and the Lion and Nils Lofgren, to perform for patients in need through its Bedside Performance Program.
