MOC Volunteers Share The Healing Power Of Music Following Tornadoes In Nashville & Surrounding Areas

On March 3, 2020 areas of Nashville and Middle Tennessee experienced devastating tornadoes that changed the community. So many people in the Musicians On Call family call these areas home, and we knew one way we could help in the days that followed was to bring the joy of live music to the volunteers, organizations and residents working to clean up after the storms.

As the clean up efforts got underway, MOC Volunteers LEVON visited sites and shelters in East Nashville, and Camden West sang for residents and volunteers in Germantown and North Nashville. MOC’s Nashville staff also grabbed their gloves and boots and joined the volunteer groups clearing debris in one of the hardest hit areas of East Nashville.

On Saturday, March 7 MOC partnered with Cross Point Church to bring Volunteer Musicians to perform at a block party hosted by the church in a severely damaged area of Mt. Juliet. Laura Walsh, Sarahbeth Taite, Matt Vrba, Doug Swanson and Brandon Ray entertained volunteers and residents during a very uplifting afternoon.

“These tornadoes and the devastation they left behind surprised everyone in Middle Tennessee. But what’s not surprising was the way the communities immediately came together to start the cleaning, and healing, process. Through their music, our volunteers bring welcome relief to hospital patients every day. It was an honor to be able to provide that same comfort during such a stressful and emotional time in Nashville,” said Musicians On Call President & CEO Pete Griffin.

Thank you to our incredible volunteers for sharing their talents and spreading joy throughout the community. To learn more about how you can continue to help those affected by these storms, visit Hands On Nashville and The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.
