Jake Peavy Helps Launch San Francisco Program

San Francisco Marks the 20th City Where Musicians On Call Is Spreading The Healing Power of Music and Have Performed for Half A Million Patients, Families and Caregivers

Musicians On Call has launched their first program in San Francisco, CA. Jake Peavy, San Francisco Giants pitcher, 2-Time MLB World Series Winner, and Cy Young Winner, joined Musicians On Call as a Volunteer Musician, performing for patients at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital today. During his time at the hospital, where he helped officially launch the 20th city that MOC has brought its Bedside Performance Program, Peavy performed for a group of patients, staff and families and then went room to room for those that could not make it to the group performance.

To further his support of Musicians On Call, Peavy will also be auctioning off an exclusive experience to have a private pitching lesson, plus a night at AT&T Park with Pre-Game Field & Dugout Passes for 4, all to help Musicians On Call continue to bring more music to patients in need. The launch is thanks in part to support from Pandora and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, who will continue the launch celebration at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital with Pandora’s Employee Volunteer Day this week. Musicians On Call programs will continue to expand throughout the Bay Area, including Bedside Performance Programs at Novato Community Hospital and the San Francisco VA Medical Center, further building on the over half a million patients, families and caregivers where MOC has already delivered the healing power of music.

“I’m honored to join Musicians On Call in bringing the healing power of music to patients and caregivers here in the Bay Area at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital,” said Jake Peavy. “I’m so grateful to give back as a volunteer, away from the baseball field, and see the transformative experiences that music brings these deserving kids.”

“We’re so proud to launch in San Francisco and it makes it even more special to have local support from Jake Peavy, a gifted athlete and musician.” said Pete Griffin, Musicians On Call President. “He’s a great example of the diversity of talent from our volunteer musicians, who come to us from a range of professions to selflessly give their time and talent to give back to patients in need.”

MOC currently brings the healing power of music to patients in New York, Miami, Nashville, Dallas, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Denver, Washington D.C., Baltimore, Denver and Atlanta. MOC has also just reached the milestone of playing for half a million patients, families and caregivers and launched its Half A Million Moments Campaign.
