Musicians On Call Raises Over $108K At The Rock The Room Tour In Los Angeles Last Night
Musicians On Call (MOC), a groundbreaking nonprofit organization that brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities across the country, held its second Rock The Room Tour event last night in Los Angeles with a truly special evening at Greystone Manor that raised over $107,000. The Rock The Room Tour, presented by Citi®, held its inaugural Los Angeles event to honor local volunteers and champions with support from sponsors City National Bank, Radio Disney, Shazam, StubHub, Universal Music Group, Monster Energy, and the Musicians On Call Jason Pollack Bedside Performance Program.
Last night’s guests, including Darren Criss, Sabrina Carpenter, Becky G, MYFM DJ Valentine, were treated to an acoustic performance by Rachel Platten who also received a “Golden Ukelele” for the Music Heals Award for her volunteer work performing for patients at over 50 MOC programs over 13 years. After performing her double-Platinum RIAA Certified and #1 hit single “Fight Song,” Platten shared how her volunteer work with MOC helped inspire the song and the impact the song had on patients she sang to at MOC’s Bedside Performance Program. The night capped off with an intimate performance from rising songstress Tori Kelly, who took the stage with just her guitar and rocked the house performing songs from her freshman album Unbreakable Smile including the hit single “Should Have Been Us.”

We were thrilled to have Tori Kelly close out the night with an unforgettable performance that celebrated the healing power of music.”
The event honored Phil Guerini, Vice President, Music Strategy Disney Channels Worldwide and General Manager – Radio Disney Networks with the Leadership in Music Award in recognition for his support of the healing power of music. Also honored were Kenli and Daniela Mattus with the Volunteer Musicians Award and Volunteer Guide Award respectively. Kenli Mattus was the first Volunteer Musician to start Musicians On Call in New York in 1999 and he moved with his wife Daniela Mattus to Los Angeles in 2012 to start the MOC program there. Daniela is now the Manager of West Coast Music Programs for MOC, where the healing power of music has been delivered to 9,000 patients, families and caregivers.
The Rock The Room Tour has raised over $237,000 for Musicians On Call in just two events and the next stop on the tour will be Washington, DC on Tuesday, December 8th that will honor Reps. Jeff Miller (R-Fla.), Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii), local volunteers Ellen Morris and Ken Wenzel and will include a special appearance by multi-platinum selling artist Nate Ruess.
The Rock The Room Tour was created to raise awareness of the impact music has on healing, honor leaders in entertainment and philanthropy and raise funds for Musicians On Call in order to continue making a difference in the lives of patients through its unique “bedside tours” in hospitals. The tour celebrates Musicians On Call’s impact in four major markets including Nashville, New York, Los Angeles, and Washington DC with special events honoring those who have showed tremendous support for the nonprofit organization. The artist performing and honorees who will be celebrated in New York next year will be announced soon.
