A Salute to Veteran Patients Through Music

The National Salute To Veteran Patients Week pays tribute to the more than 9 million Veterans of the U.S. armed services who are cared for in Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers, outpatient clinics, domiciliaries, and nursing homes.

This year, Musicians On Call was joined by members of the country music band King Calaway for a special bedside visit for Veterans, their families and caregivers at the Nashville VA Medical Center on February 16th. King Calaway has performed at the bedsides of pediatric and adult patients in Nashville and Las Vegas, and has participated in a number of Musicians On Call’s virtual concert campaigns over the years in celebration of Prom, Veterans Day and the holidays.

Musicians On Call also welcomed Volunteer Musicians Alexis Wilkins and Dylan Rockoff for bedside visits in Nashville and Murfreesboro, Tenn., and held MOC Virtual programs throughout the week for VA facilities nationwide. During these 30-minute programs, Veterans and their caregivers received messages of love and appreciation and special shoutouts.

We are proud to play for our nation’s servicemen and servicewomen. MOC volunteers have played for more than 90,000 Veterans, both in person and virtually, in VA hospitals across the country.
