Meet Camille Cain Barnes, our featured volunteer from Dallas!

Get to know our volunteers!

Do you volunteer at a specific hospital? Children’s Health

How long have you been volunteering with Musicians On Call? 1 Year

Are you a Volunteer Guide or Volunteer Musician? Guide

What is your occupation outside of MOC? Owner, CCB Events

Do you have any hidden talents? I can sing, I grew up playing the piano, I’m learning to play guitar and love the tambourine.

What is your story? What connects you with music and why do you volunteer with MOC? Music can capture a feeling or recall a memory like nothing else can. It connects us to other people, other places and other times in life. I volunteer with MOC because I believe and have seen a song change the entire day for a patient. It’s everything.

What makes MOC different from your other volunteer experiences? MOC is different because it’s personal. The musician is able to connect with the patient right where they are – in their bed in their hospital room – and bring them comfort and a smile.

Has your life changed because of your experience with MOC? Volunteering with MOC is something I look forward to and each experience makes me thankful to be a small part of it.

What is your favorite #MOCmoment? My favorite #MOCmoment so far is the launch of the first MOC program in Texas at Children’s Health in Dallas.
