Do you volunteer at a specific hospital? I volunteer at Floating Hospital for Children Tufts Medical Center
How long have you been volunteering with Musicians On Call? One year
Are you a Volunteer Guide or Volunteer Musician? Guide
What is your occupation outside of MOC? Project Management – Construction and Development
Do you have any hidden talents? Music! I play guitar, piano and sing… mainly for my kids;)
What is your story? What connects you with music and why do you volunteer with MOC? Music has always been a special part of my life. My grandparents and mother were musicians so I started playing and developing a passion for music at a young age. My family is strong believers in helping others and I have been involved in some type of philanthropy or volunteering through out my life. MOC has been a great way for me to help people through something I enjoy and am passionate about.
What makes MOC different from your other volunteer experiences? Using Music to help improve the lives of others.
Has your life changed because of your experience with MOC? Brightening up the day for the children, family and staff at the hospital has been really satisfying. Being a parent and volunteering at a children’s hospital has been especially impactful for me.
What is your favorite #MOCmoment? During one of my early sessions we played for a young girl who’s parents and extended family were in the room. The family let us know she was a huge Beatles fan and had a special request for Yellow Submarine. Of course our musician honored the request and the girl, her family and staff all joined in a sing along. As we left the nurse let us know how much it meant to them and that we made her day!
