Nonprofit named as fall 2009 beneficiary and
featured organization in December
NASHVILLE, TN (December 11, 2009) – Musicians On Call (MOC) is honored to be among the fall 2009 beneficiaries of ACM Lifting Lives,
the Academy of Country Music’s philanthropic arm. ACM Lifting Lives is
dedicated to improving lives through the power of music, a mission that
is perfectly in sync with MOC, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing live
and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare
facilities. MOC is also the featured charity for the month of December
as part of “Lifting Lives Beneficiaries Spotlight,” ACM’s monthly
online initiative that highlights one nonprofit that has been awarded a
grant through Lifting Lives.
Since
MOC launched its Nashville chapter in 2007, Lifting Lives has donated
$30,000 in grants to MOC to help the organization expand its programs
to additional facilities and more patient bedsides in Nashville.
“Lifting Lives has long been an invaluable supporter of MOC,” said Katy
Brown, Program Director of MOC’s Nashville chapter. “We’re excited and
privileged to be named as its featured charity for the month of
December.”
MOC
has expanded to five different healthcare facilities in Nashville with
eight weekly Bedside Performance Programs. Volunteer musicians and
guides have visited over 20,000 patients, family members and caregivers
in the local community. The past year’s generous grant from Lifting
Lives enabled MOC to bring its weekly live Bedside Performance Program
to both Bordeaux Long-Term Care facility and the Tennessee Valley
Healthcare System’s VA Hospital in Nashville.
“The
rapid expansion would not have been possible without the help of the
country music community, specifically the ACM Lifting Lives program,”
notes Brown.
