Do you have any hidden talents? I think all of my talents are out in the open.
What is your story? What connects you with music and why do you volunteer with MOC? I grew up loving music, dance, singing and playing piano. I learned guitar as an adult. Music is a great hobby that can be enjoyed alone or with others. It consoles you when you’re feeling down, and it can pump you up. I love how music and lyrics can understand you and bring you together with other people. I volunteer with MOC because I’ve seen first hand how music can change the mood of a patient in the hospital, especially children. It’s amazing to see how a few minutes distracted by a musician’s song can totally brighten their day.
What makes MOC different from your other volunteer experiences? MOC is unique in that every time you volunteer you get to witness and feel the direct impact of the music experience on the patient and their family.
Has your life changed because of your experience with Musicians On Call? It is a blessing and a privilege for me to be a part of it.
What is your favorite #MOCmoment? One of my favorite #MOCmoments is when I guide a new musician for their first visit to play and sing for patients at the hospital. They are always overwhelmed by how the few minutes they spend with each person makes such a huge difference in their day.
